[Paul Gorner] -- In Being and Time Heidegger gives an account of the distinctive features of human existence, in an attempt to answer the question of the meaning of being. He finds that underlying all of these Overview of the Work as a Whole The first Introduction formulates the question to be asked: "What is the meaning of Being." Important orientation: Heidegger will seek to gain access to the meaning of Being as such by interpreting a particular being viz., Human Being.

Despite dozens of detailed analyses, Being and Time remains one of the most misread books of the twentieth century. 4 In Being and Time, we find five explicit references to Parmenides and one to Heraclitus. There are two in particular, concerning Parmenides, which demonstrate that Heidegger did not detect a discontinuity between the Presocratics and Plato and Aristotle.
